Why This Role Exists
Innovapptive is consolidating from 8+ codebases into a unified platform. Architects are the design authority you define how systems are built, set patterns that scale, and prevent the technical debt that slows teams down. This is a hands-on IC role, not a PowerPoint role.
What You Own
- Design authority: high-risk changes (>1,000 lines, cross-module, API contracts, schema) require your review.
- Architecture decisions: tech selection, API design, data modeling, integration patterns. Write and defend ADRs.
- Code quality governance: named CODEOWNER. Minimum 5 MR reviews/sprint. You set the bar.
- Technical debt inventory: quantified in hours, prioritized with EMs, reported in quality scorecard.
- Cross-team alignment: ensure platform patterns adopted consistently across product scrums.
- Mentorship: grow senior ICs into architects. Pair on complex problems. Run design reviews.
You Must Have
- 8+ years software engineering with 3+ years in architecture or principal engineer role.
- Deep Node.js / MEAN / MERN for Full Stack. Deep SAP (S/4HANA, BTP, IDocs, BAPIs, OData) for Integration. Maximo (REST APIs, automation scripts) for Maximo.
- Track record defining and enforcing architecture standards across multiple scrum teams.
- Enterprise SaaS: multi-tenancy, environment management, release governance, SOC2/compliance.
- Strong opinions, loosely held.
Nice to Have
- MongoDB and event-driven architectures (change streams, RabbitMQ).
- Mobile architecture (React Native at scale).
- AI/ML system design.
- Industrial SaaS (energy, manufacturing, utilities).
You Will Be Measured On
- Top 2 tech debt items closed per quarter.
- ≥5 MR reviews/sprint. Named CODEOWNER.
- Zero escaped Sev-1/Sev-2 in code paths you reviewed.
- Pattern adoption: ≥3 product teams consuming shared patterns.
- ADRs, API contracts, data models published and current.
- At least 1 senior IC progressing toward architect-level per half.

Compensation & Growth
Band C3. Integration and Maximo at higher end due to domain scarcity. Reports to VP PE&A or CTO. Path to Principal Architect or VP PE&A technical track.
